Cult Classics at the T.V. Diner…

This week I was working on Virgin Media’s one day Pop Up Diner in Soho…

It had a menu inspired by gory thriller series and films. So, as you can imagine a lot of fun with the guys from Pretty Green trying to figure out what weird references to the t.v. show there’d be on show. There was use of Radox salts to be the Blue Crystal Meth in Breaking Bad and a great picture of John Travolta on the toilet in the loo. However surely the best bit about it was getting to have the five dollar shake from Pulp Fiction – Dulce de Leche ice cream and peanut butter – mmm, with a side of Los Pollos Hermanos chicken wings.

Just uploaded the proper pictures to my website: http://ffionharman.co.uk/T-V-Diner

But here is the 5 dollar shake in all it’s glory…

Fluffernutter Sandwiches

ImageI was bought this jar of Marshmallow Fluff- having never consumed the sweet-as-sugar-candy American delicacy before, I was understandingly suspicious, although I instantly appreciated their retro packaging. First thoughts- “it’s so sticky!”- Second thoughts- “Is it some kind of flavoured sex aid ?”- then the penny drops- “Oh! it’s like the inside of  a walnut whip- I get it!” It suggests putting it in sandwiches with peanut butter (these sandwiches are dubbed “The Fluffernutter”). I suggest the addition of Nutella to that mix and I can give it my sugary seal of approval as a breakfast treat-

Healthwise- I cannot vouch for this recipe.
